Abstract
After some conceptual specifications on the meaning of Deep-seated Gravitational Slope Deformations (Dgsd), some cases recognised in the Boite Valley (Dolomites, Italy) are described. In particular, the paper deals with the Dgsd’s affecting Lastoni di Formin, Mount Faloria and Mount Antelao which are located in the vicinity of Cortina d’Ampezzo. From a typological point of view, Lastoni di Formin are affected by lateral spreading which evolves in block sliding; Mount Faloria is instead affected by a sackung which has partially evolved in a rock slide/rock avalanche; finally, Mount Antelao is characterised by the occurrence of a sackung that is responsible for the intense jointing of the upper part of the slope and favours the formation of thick scree slopes from which debris avalanches have periodically detached, sometimes with catastrophic effects.
